August 1, 2023 — Gravic Publishes Article on “Stepping Stones for a Successful Migration”

Gravic published the article, Stepping Stones for a Successful Migration in the July/August issue of The Connection. Each “Stepping Stone” (Step) of a Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM) requires acceptance before moving onto the next step. We created this infographic to illustrate how to safely cross the “migration river” by eliminating the risks associated with migrations and following procedures that include best practices. It is best to keep the application online at all times, carefully plan and test the migration before implementation, and sequentially complete each step.

The five key stepping stones are: Replication Discovery, Roadmap Outline, Customer Training, Production Planning, and Production Implementation (“Go-live”). These steps are based on research done by experts who perform these migrations every day, but keep in mind that they are not all-inclusive for every single migration. Following these best practices should produce a successful, risk-free Shadowbase ZDM.
