Situation

An island bank uses a legacy replication product in an active/passive business continuity architecture for its BASE24™ application environment on HPE NonStop Servers (Figure 1).

The bank purchased new platform hardware, new BASE24 software, and wants to implement an HPE Shadowbase Sizzling-Hot-Takeover (SZT) business continuity architecture.

Problem

  1. The bank needed to migrate to its new platform, application version, and HPE Shadowbase SZT architecture.
  2. The bank needed to avoid an application outage, and required a proven, safe, and reliable migration method.

Solution

Use HPE Shadowbase Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM) to upgrade the BASE24 application, perform the hardware platform refresh, and replace the legacy replication engine (Figure 2), successfully migrating to an HPE Shadowbase SZT architecture (Figure 3).
