What a wonderful event! As HPE NonStop TBC 2024 wraps up, it’s great to reflect on the positive energy and momentum. It was an intimate yet energetic affair. We left the event with valuable key takeaways and new connections.
Sunday
Thankfully, Paul Holenstein (EVP & Chief Technologist) and Paden Holenstein (Business Development & Marketing Coordinator) were able to make their connecting flight from Phoenix, but the bags did not. In addition, they and other employees arrived at the Hyatt Regency to a power outage. What a start to the week!
Monday
The NonStop Academy hosted several courses throughout the day and the 70’s-themed Beer Bust reception was enjoyed by all. We took the “free-time” opportunity to privately meet with key customers and HPE field teams to bring them up to date on our latest offerings and advances.
Tuesday
It was enlightening to hear the Executive Keynote with Casey Taylor, (VP and GM, HPE NonStop) Kristi Elizondo (Connect Worldwide CEO), Mark Pollans (HPE Principal Product Manager), Arun Fernandes (HPE Director of NonStop Engineering), and Ian Inglis (Manager of the Product Management group). All provided an excellent reminder of HPE’s commitment to HPE NonStop and their vision for the future.
The NSU40 (NonStop Under-40) SIG Meeting went well. The group expressed how they initially joined the HPE NonStop industry, how to further grow the community, and planned to have follow-on calls to further drive the NSU40 initiative.
Sean O’Banion (Golden 1 System Engineer) presented Golden 1 Credit Union’s Zero Downtime Migration to NonStop x86 with HPE Shadowbase Software, describing the journey from the initial environment to preserving the business recovery environment on new hardware and achieving the project goals using HPE Shadowbase. Sean even gave a demo of Golden 1’s Shadowbase Monitoring dashboard.
Then, Paden Holenstein presented HPE Shadowbase: New Advancements in Data Replication, Integration, Validation, and More, discussing how data is a key aspect of Digital Resilience, and ensuring Continuous Availability has never been more important. Paden also reviewed exciting advancements in HPE Shadowbase solutions that are helping NonStop customers maximize NonStop availability and address emerging business needs like preserving Zero Data Loss, seamless Cloud Integration, streaming Data Analytics, Virtualization, and heterogenous database comparison. Sean O’Banion gave highlights of Golden 1’s recent project and Nelson Wong (HPE Sr Solution Architect) discussed an Asia-Pacific customer’s project to Triple Active/Active using HPE Shadowbase.
Wednesday
HPE’s Mark Pollans and our Chief Technologist Paul Holenstein presented Keeping Your Business Running – No Matter What. Attendees gained an understanding of how HPE Business Continuity products complement HPE NonStop systems to provide continuous access to data and applications – no matter what. Beyond Business Continuity, they covered the latest Data Integration and Data Streaming techniques for integrating data across the enterprise in a hybrid IT environment – including Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP Hana, and many more, including some of the web-based solutions such as Kafka. They also discussed new architectures and requirements for ransomware data recovery based upon the Digital Resilience Framework.
Later in the day, Paul Holenstein and Ken Scudder (VP, Global Sales and Business Development) presented Digital Resilience for Ransomware Protection and Data Recovery. With Malware and Ransomware threats growing rapidly, data reliability and recovery are urgent business concerns. HPE Shadowbase has a rapidly evolving solution for these customers. Furthermore, governments in all regions are enacting Digital Resilience related regulations, such as the EU’s DORA, with which companies must comply.
Wednesday evening, we celebrated 50 Years of NonStop at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, truly a local gem. Carr Scott Software was kind enough to sponsor the buses that transported everyone to and from the hotel.
Thursday
The event wrapped up with a few additional sessions and a farewell boxed lunch for the “stragglers” who were still around.
Please let us know if you would like us to discuss these sessions/content with you:
