Ken Scudder, Paden Holenstein and Paul Holenstein, along with Peter Schvarcz will be attending eBITUG 2023 in Edinburgh.
Just as an FYI, I will not be golfing at the Craigielaw Golf Course in North Berwick, lest I “slice” every other ball into the Aberlady Bay :), even though Ken Scudder and Paul Holenstein will.
I do, however, plan to attend the Palace of Holyrood House Tour and the Whisky Experience.
We look forward to experiencing Edinburgh’s rich history and culture, catching up with old friends, hearing the latest and greatest HPE NonStop news and industry trends, and sharing recent Gravic developments.
Look for our new colorful tabletop sign at our booth: stay and chat for a while!
Our presentations include:
At a recent work lunch, I remarked, “It’s great to have more help around here.” Drawing on three experienced individuals is a wonderful opportunity that I cherish every day, even if growth brings growing pains.
A big challenge this year was having the team “find its shape” – much like a football (soccer) team learns its formation. As we learned more about each other, we quickly realized our strengths.
Gravic is proud to announce that Ken Scudder has joined the Shadowbase Business Development Team as Vice President of Global Business Development.
Ken has more than two decades of enterprise software experience in product management, sales, and business development.
The opportunity to work with Gravic, HPE NonStop, and build upon the relationships and products that he knows so well, was an opportunity not to be missed. Ken looks forward to supporting customers and partners to drive new Shadowbase business opportunities!
Gravic is also proud to announce that Alfredo Gonzalez Joined the Shadowbase Product Deployment Team as Product Deployment Analyst.
Alfredo has more than two decades of enterprise software experience in technical support, system administration, business development, and even coordinating and executing disaster recovery testing.
Alfredo is very excited to join Gravic and looks forward to supporting customers, partners, and driving new Shadowbase business opportunities in Latin America!
In case you missed the last newsletter, we also mentioned that Jonathan Sechrist Joined the Shadowbase Business Development Team in 2022.
We hope that our new team formation creates synergies within Gravic and in our daily interactions with you, our partners, and our customers.
2023 is turning out to be the return of the RUG and TUG (Regional/Tandem User Group) meetings. While the summer and fall schedule is filling up, we recently attended:
Gravic Presents on HPE Shadowbase Solutions at SunTUG Sunshine Summit.
HPE’s developing ransomware solution was a major focus. We greatly enjoyed our time in the sunshine state, along with candid discussions and networking.
Jonathan looks forward to further supporting customers and partners and working on new Shadowbase business opportunities in Indonesia.
Gravic Presents on HPE Shadowbase Solutions at MATUG (Mid-Atlantic Tandem User Group).
John Vollers provided an update on the HPE NonStop Product Roadmap. We enjoyed meeting with friends old and new and were excited by the stronger attendance. Enough time was allowed for candid questions and answers throughout the day. It was also wonderful to see that the group is growing and how we have such a supportive group dynamic nurturing along the newer members.
Gravic Presents on HPE Shadowbase Solutions at NYTUG (New York Tandem User Group).
Karen Ramirez provided a brief NonStop Business Update discussing recent industry developments. Richard Conine presented You Did Everything Right, But…, which was an interesting presentation regarding ransomware and potential architectures to prevent attacks. Since NYTUG has not been hosted for about four years, the attendees greatly enjoyed the extra time to talk, reconnect, and network.
Gravic Presents on HPE Shadowbase Solutions at ATUG (Atlanta Tandem User Group)
Jeff Kyle, VP & GM, HPC/AI – Data Solutions at HPE, spoke about the HPE NonStop team’s march towards virtualization. Mark Thompson, Virtualized NonStop Consultant at HPE, discussed different options for deploying virtualized NS including compute, storage, networking, and more. The group also toured HPE’s datacenter, which included an impressive amount of servers with varying builds. Thanks to Dale Van Stratten and others who helped put this event together.
Gravic recently published Data Validation – a Must-have for Mission-Critical Databases in the March/April issue of The Connection.
In business continuity architectures, consistency between the production and backup systems is paramount. After all, if the backup system does not match, then it is essentially worthless. Unfortunately, there are several common industry misconceptions and pitfalls regarding this topic.
We’ve heard things like:
In this article, we examine these misconceptions in detail. The bottom line is that HPE NonStop business continuity architectures require periodic data validation to ensure that the source and target databases match.
Myths continue to circulate within the community, perpetuating misconceptions regarding this topic. Keith Evans’s newsletter section, Focus on Shadowbase Product Management expands on this, and, of course, the white paper has all the details including performance comparison data.
