Welcome to our Fall 2019 Shadowbase Products Group Newsletter! Thank you for your continued interest in HPE Shadowbase software. Gravic is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year! Yes, that’s right, we are celebrating our “Ruby” anniversary this year and what a long, strange trip it’s been!
Back in those ‘early’ days, consulting and custom software were all the rage, and we were fortunate enough to begin at a time when software engineering skills were in high demand. Most companies were designing and writing their own applications because the concept of the “app store” didn’t exist yet. Business was brisk, across a wide variety of competing platforms and development environments, and we dabbled in most of them. Remember OS2? WANG Basic? The venerable VMS? It is simply amazing at how many different companies came and went. We were fortunate to get plugged into a few of the survivors, like Tandem (HPE NonStop, 1979), Windows (1980), and others like Solaris (1982). We initially offered our products in the mission-critical space with our first data replication product in the early 1980’s on Tandem. The rest, as they say, is history, and fortunately now we are the strategic go-forward data replication and integration solution for HPE in the NonStop and Other Server space. (HPE directly sells and supports our Shadowbase product suite under the name HPE Shadowbase.)
As you may know, in June, at the annual HPE Global Partner Summit 2019 in Las Vegas, we graciously accepted the Momentum Technology Partner of the Year 2019 Award from Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The HPE Global Solutions Award recognizes HPE Partners for their outstanding performance and accomplishments in driving meaningful business results for shared customers, in our case for accelerating HPE Shadowbase sales around the globe. Please enjoy my interview video regarding our award.
We have been pleased with HPE Shadowbase sales these past few months; the trend is up, and we have been landing some rather tough and complex deals. Many of these deals are in what we call the “replacement” space, where we are tasked with replacing an entrenched competitor. Why would a company do this? After all, aren’t there significant barriers to switching, including the perceived high costs in switching from one replication solution to another, the customer re-education effort, the cost of new licenses for the new product, training the staff, and especially the perceived risk of a product switchover?
Much of our effort these days is in dispelling these myths and making it even easier for new customers to join us. So, the answer is, “No.” There are none of these barriers because:
Of course, we back up HPE in all of these areas to ensure that we collectively bring a ‘best-of-breed’ solution to solve your business needs.
We know that many of you are faced with an expensive, aging, and competing solution that you need to replace. It may even be unclear what your current vendor’s commitment is to your platforms. We (alongside your HPE account team) are here to help. Please speak with us about your needs, because we have the experience to make your project a success!
We have also enjoyed meeting many of you at tradeshows these past few months:
